woke up this morning with my wristband still on feeling SOOOOOOO miserable. too much to drink last night and not NEARLY enough water. i am so glad i worked sunday and don't have to go in today. i felt terrible for poor lisa! although she did feel better than i did- but then, it was hard to feel worse. she made me an amazing bagel-egg-cheese breakfast, too. the cats really like the whole hungover thing. i think there are still at least 2 of them in bed, even though i've made it up and to the computer.

oh, what a great day 100! i couldn't plan it any better! my boss may be an asshole sometimes, but when you work for a rock n' roll company, the annual holiday party is always something cool, like the pixies concert. here's us seamstresses at the aragon, when the lights went up between the opener and the pixies. we are so fabulous.

my hat was too tight but christy promised it would grow when wet and she was totally right! lisa has a perfect hat blocking mixing bowl, and so it's on the bathroom radiator and i'm waiting impatiently for it to dry. i may just wear the mixing bowl out though, i'm so excited. there was a children's book we had when i was little called "the cat with the pot on her head", which covers the little cat's ears of course, so she misenterprets her mother's instructions to much comedic effect. this is cait with a pot on her head.

i was GOING to take today's SP with the rediculous anamatronic christmas village they have set up in ogelvie train station. but then leaving the tower i noticed the new sign. i was wondering how they were gonna fix "Sears Tower" carved in stone, and i saw that morning the silly plastic letters- but it wasn't until it was dark out on the way home i saw THEY LIGHT UP! that, right there, is why the willis tower is cooler than the sears tower. you wanna be cooler? then light up.

because of the company holiday party at the end of the week, i had to work all day sunday which made me extremely grouchy. a one-day weekend is not a healthy lifestyle choice for me. but while i was at work lisa! made a cassarole i'd been planning on making for forever! and then she put it in the fridge and made tacos! and guacamole rolls! she'd gone to the mexican grocery store saturday, so she had real ingredients, but they were the best tacos ever, and so authentic! we talked about the taco kits of our childhood- old el paso hard shells and ground beef with the salty seasoning packet, and lettuce and tomato and cheese. EW. this was a decidedly different meal. thanks lisa! i love you!

Walking home from the train after knit night i saw this sign in the alley and remembered playing cranium last weekend and the clue for a sculpture one was "speed bump" and everyone's all, not in chicago! they are humps here! also, the classic rat death poster, which for some reason i am facinated by. it's so, um, urban.

our building locks were changed today. i had such a hard time opening the front door with the old keys, so i'm glad, but now i need to get new copies for people. like the veggie delivery man.

since it was veterans day we got a half day off, but it really wasn't a half day cause rock-n-roll heaven is moving. so at 1ish they packed us up and took us to the new space. moving a factory (albet a small one) doesn't sound very much fun to me and my commute will change from 35 min to 75 min so i was pretty grumpy about the idea. but the space is beautiful. it's a huge huge warehouse with a whole wall of windows and incredibly high ceilings. here's me with lexie and connie my fellow stichers. the bosses aren't in the picture- ha

Picnic #2 for the weekend. we went low and east instead of high and west on our walk. we walked to a more southern beach (loyola perhaps?) but ended up at pratt st anyway, see lighthouse. rather than packing our own lunch, we used our chipotle coupon and were very pleased with the sand/burrito combo. it was much chillier, the wind off the lake was quite cool though the sun was warm. we ran into liz (hi liz!) who was heading towards the beach as we were walking away. we chatted for a minute but i was shivering and she mentioned that walking back there was a place where it would instantly be 10 degrees warmer. and she was right! it was so weird.

PICNIC! look at us outside in Tshirts in november! we had such a nice heat wave this weekend, in the high 60s-70s. so Lisa and i planned to make the best of it. she's reading a book that takes place right now in west ridge/rogers park (we'll see what flickr maps calls it, although i am very distainful of their neighborhood catagorization) and they're often at the top of the sledding hill in warren park, so that's where we took our Saturday picnic. we ate salads and sandwiches and read our novels until sunset, which sounds late for a picnic until you realize that november in chicago means 4:30 sunset. it was lovely.

thought i'd take another friday self portrait at knit night, but found this instead. i usually walk to kimball and catch the bus to the brown line, but i decided to walk down kedzie instead since lexie and i learned it's not very far. and when you cross the bridge over the chicago river there's a life preserver. do briges in other cities do this? cause i can't remember ever seeing a life preserver by the side of the road in PA. but they're everywhere by the river in chicago. usually either white or orange, really stereotypical. i find it very quaint. and really, how deep is the river? is the current that strong? i would think hypothermia would be a much bigger problem most of the time.

since CH lives so close to rock n' roll heaven, lexie and i went over to his place after work for a video game night. i totally wanted to take a picture of us wii-ing, but as usual didn't remember till i was waiting for the bus home. in front of yet another taqueria.

i took like 5 pictures on the bus and they're all terrible. anyway, here's round 6 of my 450 sts for my new east-west satchel. again, it's hard to tell, but this is 4 different colors so far.

finally left my umbrella on the bus. so here's my new one. it's just pink, instead of pink flowered. i wanted to take a picture of ALL the umbrellas gathered at the metra platform, but alas my arms are too short and my umbrella too big. still, you can catch hints.

grrrrr. f-ing printer. there IS INK IN THERE! when you shake the cartridges you can hear it. lisa!'s been trying to mail back these too small boots she bought on the internet for weeks, and it was gonna happen, except she can't print the labels because my printer has decided it wants more cyan magenta and yellow ink. not black of course. because i have some of those. grrrr.

lisa! texted me at knitting group- i had THREE packages delivered! the first was my bulbs, (which i planted sunday and which the squirrels are already digging up) the second was mom's presents for lisa and i from her equador. and the third was finally my box from knitpicks! mom sent my birthday gift to the wrong address, and then she was in the equadorian jungle when they wanted the correct one. but it came, and it's the crazyest purse ever! there's fair isle, there's intarsia, there's miles of icord and steeks and cast on 450sts. and it came with 21 colors of yarn. oh yes.

every thursday it rains. i know this because i seem to wear a long skirt every thursday, and then i do laundry every thursday, and i clomping up and down the back stairs i think about what a bad idea this all is.
