google reader

so i've switched to google reader from bloglines. it seemed to be what all the cool kids were doing. and it also seemed like a good time to tell you about the blogs i read. because i want you to read them too. more importantly i want you to tell me about the blogs i SHOULD read. because i know there are more people with facinating lives who will let me spy on them. who am i missing?

In Alphabetical Order:
below the eight. i started to read because she left a comment about my kitty once. Fraulein N is funny and lives in philly and now wears skirts- what's not to like?

cta tattler. an essential read for any chicagoian, especially a public transit rider, ESPECIALLY a red line commuter. this is my life.

disconnected train cars of thought. my friend pam's blog. i miss going to school with her- i believe in reading any blogs of people i know and like in real life.

dooce". come on. you could TELL me you don't read dooce, but i probably wouldn't believe you.

(en)gender. "she's not the man i married" is on my booklist, but until i read it i'll just read the author's blog.

from the mayor's desk my mother, with her taste in older men, i think is a little in love with the mayor of reading. and please, who doesn't love a mayor with a blog, especially an elderly one? it makes me feel a little charmed towards my hometown.

girlyblog i'm a girlyman fan, and so i read a girlyblog.

here be subtletyjamie's blog, my first blogging friend. i' so glad she's back online again! these are the new friends i want to meet, bloggers like jamie.

misanthropic tendencies" sarah's blog, which though i enjoyed before, keeps getting better and better. i want to be friends with krista and sarah in real life. i should really get on the moving to philly thing.

monochromatic girl krista's blog, which i keep on my blogroll in hopes she will someday update again.

my girl purple the girlfriend's blog. where you can catch everything i'm too lazy to write about.

one shoe offliz's blog, another blog i miss. a blog i seem to ALWAYS click through to leave comments on.

pesky apostrophe more philly, more knitting, more local veggies. i never have to worry about mac not posting.

smartypants diary secret confession: i look for mz. smartypants everywhere i go. she just lives a mile or so due west of me. she rides the redline to work. she takes the devon street bus. i keep hoping i'll bump into nora on the street someday. reading a blog that's set in your city is even more exciting than watching a movie set in your city

the panopticon again, i secretly imagine spotting franklin at hydrate or cocktail some night. and i'll actually recognize him since he's a celebrity blogger i've actually met! i NEVER leave comments for him, though, because all those knittin ladies worldwide leave so many twittery comments that by the time i scroll all the way to the bottom it seems it's all been said.

postsecret. again, if you don't like postcards, you must at least like art. if you don't like art, you must at least like secrets. i can't imagine anyone not getting sucked into postsecret.

womenfolk one of jamie's great suggestions, the free downloads have given me some amazing new artists. i hope it gets up and running again soon!

finally, i have a whole folder dedicated to comics, since i finally don't get the paper anymore. it's such a pain to click through i won't post links unless you really really want them and can't be bothered to do a google search yourself, but i read:
a softer world, agnes, doonesbury, for better or for worse, frank & ernest, opus, pearls before swine, and real life adventures.

ok, that's what i read! what do you read?

i have answers

i have updates. want to know the latest on my mental health standings? on our collection of floral software? on the enormous surprise i'm cooking up for d for her birhday? then you have to let me know you're out there.

basically personal correspondence between liz and i

i never got a chance to thank you for that fabulous comment, but yes indeedy, i remember that girlyman concert. so much happens in a year. it's so funny to me how long it took for us to meet in real life- you are like so many of my imaginary online friends- with the benefit of actually living in the city! well, until OK. but you're comming back. i know you are.

24-hr salad is a family delicacy that i doubt is widely known outside of western pennsylvania. the origns are the name are unknown, as it takes at most 18hrs to make. a cooked dressing (basically a syrup with pineapple juice) is poured over pineapple chunks, halved grapes, walnuts and marshmallows. these are allowed to marinate overnight, and then before going to the potluck you whip up some cream and fold it in. this is obviously a HUGE nutritional step above jello salads.

i was gonna say something about ann coulter and i both being cute with bad hair, but then i saw the newt gingrich ads. so no, i have no idea why my comments are advertizing ann and newt. i feel like i know ann better than she knows me, but she's voiced her hatred of me before, so i feel fine about hating her.

i personally am a comment addict, so i am pleased to comment on others blogs. that, i feel, is good internet karma! i bank on people feeling the same way i do.

bags

oh so many. finished 2 laundry bags tonight, have 5 bowling ball bags to do by wednesday at the latest. but my dad comes tuesday night, so really it's gotta be before that. crazy crazy. i just want a weekend. if i get the bags measured tomorrow morning i'm going over to ch's afterwards. he's going to shave my hair into a mohawk for me, and then we're gonna go here over the rhine at pizza fest.

i know you don't want to hear about this, you want dish on the girlfriend situation. but i have no idea what i want or if i'm getting it, and the relationship is very confusing, and i have nothing new to say, so i'm sorry but i can't give you what you want to hear. i hope y'all read anyway.

full of feathers

wings, wings, my life is full of wings right now. head on over to flickr to see what it's all about. i need to make tube tops and kimono sleeves tomorrow. must. sew. more. it's late. i wanted to get that stuff cut out. but i saw ruth stopped by my blog, and it made me want to post something new for her to read. how did i know she stopped by? well, my counter shows me interesting statistics, like, "referers." most of the time it's 1 or 2 google searches, a blogger link, and the rest are all "direct hit" which doesn't help me much, other than knowing i have regular readers who have me bookmarked. BUT, it also says the OS and the browswer used. windows, explorer, blah blah blah. BUT whenever a linux user with firefox shows up, i know it's ruth. who else uses linux and firefox?
i think i'm too tired to cut anymore. i'm just going to shine my sink and go to bed. scrabble with liz in the morning!

but now it's so late, and d and i are going recycling tomorrow. but i did wanna post and thank y'all for the comments. i do apprieciate them. it's good to be read, and i hope you aren't mad at me for bullying you into it. really, you do have good excuses!

HALOSCAN!!!

oh, i've missed you and your lovely blue pop up self! after fooling around with all that fucking code they finally posted a wizard, and it's so easy, and so now- i present to you....

HALOSCAN COMMENTING AGAIN!

since i know at least two of you have said you will never again comment in blogger format, i am so glad to give you the option you all so richly deserve. now, btw, would be a lovely time to comment in the lovely new pop up about how much you love my new comments, or conversely (or addionally!) how much you love me.

year in review 2006

ok, i know it's past my bedtime, but it's almost february and i haven't done my fave meme yet. so i'm going to do it right now. you go into your archives and post the first line of the first post each month. here is the brief summary of my 2006:

januar: i was so good at blogging in philly, then, well, too many parties started happening!

februar: darlings i love you, but...
i just can't blog tonight. ch took me out for a margarita after work and now i'm tired and hungry.

märz: still hate colaborative seminar. calculated my trim in costume construction today.

april: goddess, it feels like it's been so long since i've had anything to say. thursday i had a another nightmare, again on the farm- this time the world was ending.

mai:so ch has been saving all these music videos for me to see, songs for me to hear, all sorts of streaming media! because i of course can do nothing with my dial up connection.

juni: oh my goddess, now that you've read all about bermuda i need to catch you up on what's happening this week! it's been crazy, poor mitzi's like, what's up, bitch, i thought you were HOME from vacation?

juli: i feel when i'm sad i will just feel sorrier for myself if i lay in bed all day, reading books and watching movies, occasionally getting up just to waste time online. and i feel proud of myself when i get stuff done when i don't feel like doing anything.

august: was not in a good place when i left for the beach.

september: SO, i was only supposed to work half a day today, but we ended up being so busy i stayed all day, and after ch & i closed up, we went upstairs for a margarita... i was feeling, i don't know, like shopping i guess, so i said i was going to sears to buy a vacuum cleaner.

oktober: the bag lady was designing this music spectacular thing at old town this weekend, and when i saw it was kid friendly i invited deb as my date, and she could bring her son along.... so i finally met the 5 year old.

november: work today, blah blah blah. stayed up too late last night listening to all that linford and so was tired today. i've just been feeling grumpy and blue lately.

dezember: i think you all should take your whining and STUFF IT! because it's snowing here in chicago, and it's BEAUTIFUL! it is cold and crisp and the light is bright and diffused. i got out the christmas music today, and my fur hat, and my advent calendar.

thereby ending my summary of a year. it worked amazingly well this year, and i think the first sentence provides lovely little tantalizing bits, and now i am inspired to be a good little blogger this year. i'll be greatful for it in january 2008.

RIP

goodbye, sideburns. i know you'll grow back eventually. ch's haircut is SHORT! it's nice though. i trimmed up his as well. now i have to go and wash all the little hairs off me before bed, though. d says she'll like it as long as she can still run her fingers through it. it was crazy this afternoon with mom calling, d calling, z calling and g'ma calling. she wanted to finalize plans for this weekend. eep! i can't believe it's here already! yes, j, we're coming through on the 23rd. we'll be at g'mas in time for dinner, and we have to teach d how to play 500 that night. and we're probably leaving before church the next morning- sorry g'ma, we're missing the birthday party for jesus.

can't wait to see you all! though i wish there were more of you i'll be seeing. come to pa, one and all! esp. if you have rocking new years eve plans.

i appologize for using though four times and through twice in those 150 words or whatever. i'll try and use my thesaurus more in the future and lighten up on the ghs.

haloscan

spent hours trying to get the old comments back monday night. didn' t work. so sorry chicas. i can turn off the word verification or have them open in the same window if you like. but i can't make haloscan work right with blogger beta. wah-wah.

j, thanks for singing even if it's not ani!

so tuesday on my way to work i realized i'd left my cell at home. this was a problem, cause the plan was to call d when i got to n and clyborn and she and jr would pick me up, we'd make dinner, and then go see happy feet. unfortunately, i don't have her number written down. anywhere. i had really no way of getting a hold of her. that afternoon i sent her flowers that said to call me at the flowershop, and i'd just take the bus to her place. unfortunately, she'd been coming in and out of the back and didn't get them on the front stoop. so she put up some rice at dinner time when she hadn't heard from me, and went to the train station to wait. she must have missed me as i darted across the street to the bus. when i got to her place i could see lights on and hear music playing, plus she'd left the back gate open, so i sat down to wait, knowing she'd be home soon.

meanwhile, she was panicking, since i hadn't called her all day. she went to my house, found my phone, and called charles from it. he told her i was going to her place, and so she called my neighbors who told her i'd just left. when the bus finally got back to the train station, she was standing right by the doors for me! finally! so we missed the movie, but we did make a phenominal stir-fry. i have no patience for the kid watching cartoons while we're in teh kitchen, so i sat him down to peel carrots and then to dry the dishes i washed, and he had a good time participating. the stir fry ended up being so good. and i was SO SO hungry by this point. after cleaning up jr wanted to play a game, so we played a condensed version of life. deb and i both put a second pink peg in our cars when we got married, a lá cristina salat's living in secret.

i got home so early this morning, so i went back to bed for a few hours. now i need to get to work- my list has gotten so long! i need to get to the grocery store, and then start cooking for thanksgiving! not to mention clean up after the cat's mess after i was gone last night. little fucker broke another hand made bowl.
and of course, burning cds for all of you!

20.11.06

dancing continued

off to square dancing again. monday night class, doncha know. but thank you all for your comments! i am TRYING to fix the commenting. i appriciate you taking the time to comment in such an awful forum, though! much love and cds to you!

10.10.06

so little time

i have these bags, see, and they need to be done. cause bags pay. so i don't have time to blog anymore, because the bags have to be done during the day, cause i keep doing things, like, oh, having deb pick me up after school and go to her place to make applesauce from the apples they picked in iowa with her and her son. but since i'll spend the night, then work tomorrow, then go right to circus school, you can see how i need to take care of so many things before i leave. my life seems to be full of minivacations. not that i'm complaining.

1.10.06

wild life

hey, could someone leave a comment so i know they work? i know blogspot comments are sucky, but i can't figure out how to get haloscan back now that im on beta. sad. sorry. but do you like the dots, though?

the bag lady was designing this music spectacular thing at old town this weekend, and when i saw it was kid friendly i invited deb as my date, and she could bring her son along.... so i finally met the 5 year old. spend the day with him, in fact. it's crazy to me. i'm having a lot of fun being the bad one, playing some serious footsie in ihop and the like. i mean, i want to be all over her, but i also know the kid can't see any pda, so it's allways this balance of holding her hand in the car, wondering if he can see it over his carseat, wondering if that's ok, figuring she'd put my hand back if it's not.

deb dropped me off at liz's party. it's crazy, just a few blocks away. why am i not afraid to go to a party where i don't know ANYONE? i guess cause liz writes such charming emails. and i figured she'd have fun interesting educated friends, which would be a nice change from watching cartoons on tv. what i didn't count on was her group of friends being the gays from chicago theological seminary. not just still christians, but REALLY christian. my nickname for the night was "who the hell are you" and it was lots of fun. they were all nice, i mean, how could they not be? but still, it was strange nostagia. i'd never met anyone before... but i'd kinda met liz 3 years ago. and as if christianese doesn't throw me back, hyde park does. you know how i still wax nostalgic about hyde park. so it was all fun, but a bit stressful... like we were talking about knitting, and a guy brought up an exboyfriend who he didn't like knitting in public, and i asked if he had the problem with all knitters in public, or just his bf, and he said he didn't think men should knit in public, and i said, "oh, so it's a gender issue!" excited because i love to talk about gender, and i was TOTALLY shot down, don't bring that up in this group, you don't wanna go there, and i'm like, woah, what? i was very quiet till the topic change. later, my fave guest was asking me if i went to church, and i made some disingagement signals, kinda i don't wanna get into this story, and said not anymore. and he said that i should totally feel ok with that and everyone in this group is absolutely ok with that, and i'm thinking, cool, that's nice... so talking about not being a christian is ok, but gender isn't? ok then. but some really fun people, a nice assortment, though all from the same box. they were kind to me, and that is important. i can't wait to see how it goes. all these aquaintences i meet places- i wonder if i'll ever run into them in bars or busses someday.

and what i find most interesting is how careful i am about deb, though she doesn't have the blog address and i don't think i'll be giving it to her anytime soon, and i'm giving specific examples of what i was thinkign about conversation and liz's friends, and i know she not only reads but leaves comments! (which no one can read anymore because i can't figure out how to turn haloscan back on. damn them! damn them all!) anyway, way past my bedtime

blogger in beta

so i switched the ole blog over. so i can can have catagories now. am going to work on updating the template, but you know i'm too lazy to keep all my changes. so i'll be under construction here for a little bit.

have really done pretty much nothing since last blogging. went to bed, went to work. ch and i are working on a wedding- tomorrow we have both a fundraising event and a wedding we're designing. the wedding's beautiful. the bride's superfunky, andd her wedding colors are white with pink and orange polka dots. which was fun and all, but it was one of those, i can't leave the shop till i've completed the 10 boutonnieres, the 3 wrist corsages, and the 3 pin on corsages. ch and i went out for dinner afterwards. i still need to roast those silly veggies. i better do that tonght, so i have something to eat for lunch tomorrow. tomorrow will be a full day of work. sigh. and then there's the grace kelly dress.

i miss deb. unfortunately i seem to have given up household chores in favor of seeing her. i have SO MANY packages to get out. it's just terrible. someday, someday.
