so on friday i asked d, "so, you have any plans for tomorrow night?" and she said, "well, i have an idea, but what do you want to do?" and i said, "well, i have an idea but what do you want to do?" she wanted to go to the girlbar dance party and circut. i wanted to teach her to play euchre and play at big chicks. luckily, the night is long and both could be scheduled.

so she made a delicious carrot cashew curry while i sewed, and then we played some euchre and headed to big chicks to show off her new skilz. and of course it was fun because you can't have a bad time at big chicks. trust be, i've tried. impossible.

from there we came back to my place to change into our dancing clothes, and then took the train to circut. we were underdressed- we didn't want to check a pile of easily lost accessories, but it had gotten quite colder that evening. and there was a line in front of circut. and we couldn't figure out why. it was only 10- a place as big as circut couldn't possibly be full. yet they didn't seem to be letting anyone in. i was very grumpy waiting in line, and refused to wait more than 5 minutes. so we left and i immediately felt better, but leaving made d grumpy. "where are we going to go?" she worried. i was like, please. it's boystown on saturday night. it's not going to be THAT hard to find dancing. we'll go to spin, or hydrate, or anyplace that we can feel the thumping outside of. and wouldn't you know, there in front of us, was hydrate's marquee- "SAT- NO COVER TILL MIDNIGHT! DJ JESSICA" so we got carded at the door, and i thought hmm, dj jessica has a strange affinity for showtunes, when dude said there was a special cabaret act, and there was a $20 cover. uh, no thanks.

so we were still cold, and grumpy, and quickly giving up hope. but across the street the chicago diner glowed warm and welcoming and i said, if nothing else we can defrost. they let us in, even though the kitchen was closed, and whe got all toasty with chai and hot chocolate and chocolate breadpudding with vegan ice cream. mmm. that put us both in such good moods we were perfectly content with our evening and could just go home!
