where'd my hour go?

i'm having a hard enough time getting everything done this weekend without loosing an hour, too! i stayed up till 2 last night, but i did manage to do the dishes, pay my bills and type ALL of my journal entries for creative nonfic. today i did some serious procrastinating, but i did the laundry (and now my apt. smells like my laundry soap! ah! i adore it! i get wet just catching a whiff!) dropped cds off at gs, made a list and went grocery shopping. i came home and made sweet potato fries, asparagus in dilled mustard sauce, and orange rice and black bean salad. it's an ok combo-but i have a lot of things i like to balance when i make different salads. sweet and savory, veggie and grain (and/or protein), green and orange (and/or brown or white), plain and complicated. they all work well together except for the asparagus- the sauce is a heavy yogurt based sauce, and the dill and mustard makes it heavily flavored. so it looks more white than green, is almost as complicated as the orange rice and black bean salad and makes the meal as a whole pretty acidic. i think if i would have made cold gingered asparagus it would have been perfect. don't get me wrong- the asparagus in dilled mustard sauce is wonderful- it should just be with something else, maybe golden couscous with carrots or something. anyway, 2 of the 3 recipies came from the student's vegetarian handbook. this makes it 5 out of 5 for successful, quick, yummy recipies. thanks so much, z! it was the best cookbook i got that trip- much better than the two mom gave me!
