kaffee und kuchen

A much lower key christmas day the next day. i like how these germans celebrate forever- until the whole plate of christmas cookies has been eaten. meike went to church, but i stayed home. michi and janik stopped by to say goodbye- they were meeting another friend ellen in kibo for coffee. i went with- i was afraid of another long german conversation in which i couldn´t participate, but the idea of leaving the house was just too tempting. ellen and her boyfriend (brother? 2nd cousin? i have no idea) didn´t speak english, but everyone did a great job keeping me involved. Janik´s even funnier in german than he is in english, and michi kept up translating. i successfully ordered mz hot chocolate, and it came with a little piece of chocolate covered liebkuchen! Yum! i can´t remember when i last ate fresh liebkuchen. it seems to always be stale in the us. it´s good stale, but i had forgotten how much better fresh. when we got back to meikes, she was home so we all said goodbye briefly- janik had a timetable to keep, and he was hilarious trying to keep michi on schedule- they are like a comedy team.
